Christmas II – Christmas Day and Dinner

December 30th, 2011

Usually Christmas Day is spent running around town to visit with my dad’s family and Ant’s family, but this year we decided to keep it at home and host Christmas dinner for both his and my families together. We’d watched Jamie Oliver’s Christmas special just the week before and decided we wanted to make (and eat) everything he was offering. So Ant took the reins and I did what he told me to do, and together we cranked out our first Christmas dinner for our families. Ant did a great job with the menu and cooking, and I’m already craving those roasted veggies and that Turkey Wellington again!

It was a privilege to nourish our parents this year just as they’ve done for us every Christmas. We hope we can do it again and again.

We hope your holiday was merry and bright, and full of love. And hey hey hey, Happy New Year!!

Christmas I – Christmas Eve and Morning

December 30th, 2011

The image we sent out to family and friends on our Christmas cards this year. We actually had them printed and mailed and sent out before Christmas – that’s a rarity for us…

More photos from our Christmas weekend…

Christmas Eve is always spent with my mom’s side of the family. After Christmas Mass, we gather at my parents’ house where we eat and catch up and do a little gift exchange. I love seeing the girls warm up to my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I know they’re blessed to grow up with them as I did.

Now that we have a little family of our own, we have a quiet little Christmas morning here at home, just the girls, Ant and I. This year somehow both girls ended up in our bed by morning time and we all slept in late. It was the sweetest way to wake up, I tell you.

We spent a little time exchanging gifts beside our tree and rummaging through stockings. Then we ventured across the street, still in jammies, to my parents’ house for Christmas morning with them. It’s a nice little tradition we have and I’m thankful we get to see my parents so easily and early on Christmas morning.

Thanks for sharing in our Christmas with us! Next up – Christmas Day and the dinner!

Christmas!

December 28th, 2011

Christmas this year was extra special around our neighborhood. It was Poppy’s first, and having our two little girls to dote over was so great. Ella really got the hang of receiving this year (“Where is my udder present?”). Also really special, my sister and her new husband flew in from San Francisco to spend a few days with the family. It was a great Christmas weekend.

Here is our holiday in Instagrams:

We had a blast. I hope your holiday was beautiful and full of joy!
