38 Weeks

December 31st, 2010

Not too much to report on the Poppy front for this week, which is a good thing indeed!  It is kind of just a waiting game from here on out…

I’ll keep this post short as it’s New Year’s Eve and be back soon with our 39th week post (where we currently sit).  I think I’ll save our little bit of news for that post.  My mind has been very full lately.

I hope everyone out there has a safe and fun New Year’s Eve.  Thank you for sticking around!  I’m grateful for a place to share our lives.

Here’s to a beautiful new year full of light and love, brightness, laughter, and joy.

All the best to you and yours.

Sweetest wishes, Xs & Os, Katy

37 Weeks

December 29th, 2010

I didn’t get out to take any maternity shots for our 37th week on account of being so under the weather.  We did, however, get to peek at the sweet little chubbin in my belly a few times!  I thought I’d share those images instead…they’re so much cuter anyway.

I love those kissy lips.  I love that they are exactly the same from the side as little Ella Faye’s.  And Ella Faye’s are the same as her daddy’s.

And Poppy Lucille has definitely got that high Verga cheekbone that Ella possesses too.

I love that I can see these features of Ant’s so clearly in my girls.

I’m so anxious to smooch all over those tiny lips and puffy cheeks!

36 Weeks

December 16th, 2010

Almost there! Where have the past nine months gone??  This pregnancy has progressed unbelievably fast…

We’ve started our twice weekly ultrasounds of baby Poppy.  Now that we’re near the end, my doctor wants to keep an eye on the amount of amniotic fluid and Baby’s size.  Along with those bi-weekly visits, we have our weekly exams, and somehow managed to schedule each of those appointments on different days, so half of our weekly afternoons are spent at the doctor’s office.  We’re getting quite cozy there.  In fact just yesterday afternoon I felt completely comfortable enough to close my eyes and doze off for a few moments.

Anyway, I am grateful for the technology and advancements that allow us to keep such a close eye on our babe.  The numerous visits aren’t even a bother, just to know she’s doing well in there in the home stretch.  And we’re rewarded with seeing her sweet little face twice a week!!

Yesterday I had the exciting anticipation planted in me that this little girl could come before the new year!  I am already one centimeter dilated (is that too much to share?  I’m not sure…) and my doctor doesn’t think we’ll make it to my January 5th due date.  I told her that I keep telling Ant I have this strong urge to buy a “Baby’s First Christmas” onesie just in case.  But Christmas being only 8 days away, I suppose that’s a little rushed.  All these glimpses of her is only making it harder to wait.  The house may not be ready for her arrival, but I sure am.

35 Weeks & a Surprise

December 14th, 2010

There are times when you get so depleted and worn out.  Then suddenly something changes and in an instant your spirits are revived and your soul rested.

Last weekend held a moment like that for me.

After coming off a week full of working-into-the-early-morning nights trying to get everything in order for the craft show, I was so ready for a relaxing Saturday with my little family.  We had loose, casual plans – a lunchdate of cheeseburgers and fries and a little shopping trip with friends to follow.

I was in for much more than that.  And Ant had me totally fooled.

He led me right into a surprise baby shower!

And the best part – a surprise big sister shower for Ella Faye.

We arrived at our friends’ house, walked in the door, and there they all were.  All my girlfriends, my mom, aunt, and cousin.  Even my out-of-state sister, on a computer screen, holding her own little celebration on her end of the internet.

I was floored.  Ella, in my arms, was confused.  I think I just asked “What?” over and over again.  It was a wonderful afternoon.

Thank you ladies, for making me feel so special.  I couldn’t ask for more supportive friends and family.  And to celebrate Ella coming into her role as big sister made her feel special too.  She is so excited, and it means so much to us to celebrate that.
