Great Little Things

There have been quite a few nice things happen lately, in the day to day life. I try to make it a priority to catch these small acts or experiences, grab a tight hold on them and squeeze everything I can out of them. Together all these little things pile up and turn our days into magic. Here are a few of my current favorite little things:

First, that top picture up there of our man carrying his babies…

I love the terms Ella comes up with and the way she pronounces certain words. Lately she’s been referring to hula hoops as “whooly hoops”.

A few mornings ago Ella was arguing with Poppy & when asked what it was all about, she declared, “Poppy’s tryin’a get on the fofa but she has poop in her dipey!”
We’ve got a little policelady on our hands but I like the way she recalls our rules (no poopoo diapers on the sofa) & applies them to Poppy.

A couple weekends ago we took the girls out for ice cream. We let Poppers free to roam the parlor & of course the two little girls riled themselves up & were off and running. Suddenly Ella paused & shouted to me, “Mama, it’s so fun havin’ a baby sister!” Right there in the ice cream shop, I melted faster than my ice cream. (And I’m still swooning over it weeks later.)

All of the sitting in laps that’s going on over here. I love the way Poppy spots me on the floor & backs herself up to my legs, then plops down just perfect in my lap. She’s attempted to sit in Ella’s lap a few times too, and so Ella has started basically sitting on Poppy to return the favor.

The way that Poppy is starting to do things just as Ella does them. She’s picking up so much through observation. And I love that she has no reservations. There’s no question in her sweet mind if she can achieve something or not, she just goes for it and tries.

Ella is such a giving little girl. She knows that she’s expected to share with Poppy and sometimes even though she doesn’t want to, she will willingly give up a toy and then step back and cry a little over what she just did. Kind of like she didn’t want to share but couldn’t keep from doing it?

When we play hide and seek, Ella exclaims “Magicaboom!”

Poppy’s current most used “word” is “bumba!”
