Mellow Yellow
September 8th, 2011

My big sister is getting married in three weeks (three weeks, Teresa! Ack!) She is having each of her bridesmaids select their own dress for the wedding. The only requirement is that it be a shade of mustard…and the groomsmen will be wearing grey suits. Mustard and grey – a color combo I love so much. I can’t wait to see this dapper wedding party!
This sweet yellow frock landed in my possibility pile of dresses as the Matron of Honor. But in the end, the color was too much on the yellow side and didn’t quite cut the mustard. Heh – how could I not use that line?
I am so glad of this, because when I put this dress on, I instantly loved it and didn’t want to wait to wear it around town until after the October wedding. Thankfully a second dress that came in the same order fits the bill just right. It’s mustard, tea length, with a simplicity that feels very “me” and a style that says “Teresa”. I love it too and can’t wait to don it on her special day.
I wore this dress on a Sunday evening date with Ant a few weeks ago. We stopped into LGO for a mellow dinner together. There are times when we try to squeeze a movie into our date, but this always ends up feeling rushed and we don’t get to visit very much on these kinds of outings. We either end up eating popcorn and pop for dinner (which I love), or I’m hauling a three pound burrito in my purse so we can have our dinner during the previews (cut to this past Saturday’s date).
Other times we like to try out places we’ve never been to, or only frequented a time or two. But this kind of date, to a place so familiar we know exactly what we want before we get there, is nice and relaxing. We know we’ll love the food, the pace is slow and we actually get to enjoy each other’s company. (We get to talk!! Something that’s becoming rare in a house with a sprouting chatterbox and her squeal-awking baby sister.)
We went to the restaurant early, were seated right away, and got to spend a good amount of time together through salad, pizza, cake, gelato, and a mocha to top if all off.
Oof.
(I could go for that again…)
It was a fun and simple little outing with my love, and a sweet way to ring in the new week.
