I Bought a Calendar…

July 20th, 2011

…and I intend to use it.

It seems I’ve been on a hiatus of late. And I have to say, it has felt pretty nice! These past few weeks I’ve been a busy bee preparing for my sister’s bridal shower. Planning, making decorations, cleaning my house and cleaning my house. Then this past weekend we welcomed my big sister as houseguest and things went all whirlwindy. Eating out for lunches and dinners (which I did so much love), skipping naptimes here, there, and everywhere. Total routine abandonment. It was awesome (minus the resulting tantrums).

And all that time, every night at blogging time I’d feel a little guilty about neglecting this space yet again. But I’m glad to have focused on shower prep and my sister and my family and it was a welcome break. Sometimes you just don’t feel like blogging, ya know?

But anyway, I am back and I have so much to catch up on. Although I am not going to make it feel like a chore. I do that often, make blogging feel like something I need to be doing. But why do I create it to be that way? Things get pretty un-fun when I do that.

These past two post-shower days, I’ve been enjoying settling back into our normal routine. The daily of things…daily cartoons, daily naps, daily play dates. I’ve been savoring one little pipsqueak while the other one naps. I even got a solid hour or so of plush work done yesterday afternoon. And we’ve cooked at home for the past three nights. Yes.

So back to that calendar. I bought one the other day. In the Target Back-to-School section and it’s the cutest calendar I’ve ever laid eyes on. It starts with August. Maybe Back To School month for me equals Welcome To Organization?

Something has got to be done. I’ve found there’s no order to the things I do. And that in turn leads to simply not doing.

I’m going to use my calendar. The blocks are tiny but I am going to fit my daily/weekly/monthly tasks so dutifully in those squares.

In those cubic inch blocks I intend to showcase fun activities such as date nights and play dates for the Ella Bear. I am also going to square away time for such duties as crafting/sewing and blogging. These last two i will treat like office hours. I need to make them commitments or they just won’t get any attention. And they are things I would like to get more serious about.

I’ve got a lot of scheduling to do. On my new little calendar.

…I think I’ll start with laundry day(s).

Can you schedule in my exercise time as well? I love that you revert back to good old paper and ignore the fancy calendar on your phone.
