What I Wore…Red, White, & Blue
July 5th, 2011
The girls were dressed in their red, white, and blue. Ant was changing his shirt after realizing he wasn’t all that patriotic. And I was combing through the closet noticing how many stripey pieces of clothing I own. Some people are drawn to florals or neutrals…I must be drawn to stripes.
And then I saw this dress hanging lonely at the front of my closet, neglected for some time, having been awaiting a visit with the dry cleaners.
My sister had gifted me this dress some time ago. She’d found it in a thrift, I think during her college days. I used to love going into her closet and looking at her dress collection, and I was over the moon when she gave me this dress. Talk about a hand-me-down! This one, I’ll happily take.
Well I wore it dirty yesterday, because it was just right for the occasion.
I’d better get it a good cleaning though, because I foresee many more wearings this summer…

A few notes about the dress – I am in love with the bees, but would you say those colored ones are butterflies? I always assumed they were all bees and just noticed the difference in these photos.
Also, notice the holes in the belt! I wore it on the second loosest fitting and I may have referred to myself once, as a pig in a blanket and twice, as a stuffed piggie. Holy smokes, I can’t imagine the waist of a girl that would use that tightest hole! But good for the girl that could.
Outfit details:
Dress: hand-me-down from my sister, thrifted years ago
Sandals: found at the GrowOp in Phoenix

Ooh I LOVE that dress! When I saw it on your instagrams over the weekend, I squealed about it in Ben’s ear. I am so glad it still fits someone in the family! The waist is definitely so so tiny, I’m surprised I ever squeezed into it myself. Lookin’ goooood! xo sis t
