The Life We’ve Made
May 26th, 2011

Five years tomorrow for us. We’ve done a lot in five years and all of it seems to have flown by. In our pre-babe days, we’d skip off to San Diego for our wedding anniversaries. When Ella came along, we just skipped over to the next town and explored with our munchkin, pretending that we were on a more distant vacation. This year we decided to keep our celebrating at home, with the two little lives this love has made. We’ve got five days to spend together, savoring each other and family outings.
We took each other out last night to commemorate our five years as husband and wife. Dinner, ice cream, cookies, and coffee. It became an extended date night for us, thanks to my generous parents for spoiling us.
We started at St. Francis in downtown Phoenix. We sat on the patio, ivy and lights overhead. Starter, salad, delicious steaks. We allowed ourselves to splurge and that, we did. Something we thought was amazing – the most random song from our wedding came through the speakers at the beginning of our meal, then as we finished up, the song we had our first dance to (I’m Yours) began to play. We wanted to get up and dance. It felt a little magical.
We stopped at Churn for ice cream and cookies. Our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. There was no room in them when we left our dinner table, but this boy loves his coffee ice cream.
We finished our special night at Lux, a soy latte for me and an Arnold Palmer for Ant.
We came home, picked up our littles, tucked them into bed, and settled back into our real lives. Because this is the life we’ve made, and this is the life we love.

Wouldn’t want to share it with anyone else. It’s rather amazing how our two separate lives came together and now we have two little ones that are one part you and one part me. So much love in our lives. Happy Anniversary!
