How I Styled…Steppin’ Out

So the husband and I got a date night this past weekend. Ella Faye had a slumber party with my parents, which she was so excited about. That means there was no bedtime to tackle and Mommy and Daddy were curfew-free! (Well Pops was hanging with us, but she is the quietest little third wheel to have around.)

So what did we want to do with our limitless evening?

We grabbed some dinner, picked up an order of chocolate cake, then stopped for a pint. (Of ice cream, that is.) We went back home, settled in for some gorging and flicked on a movie. We are homebodies, through and through.

Regardless, it was Date Night. And here is what I pulled out of my closet…

There is something so very vintage feeling to me about this outfit. I feel as though it’s a throwback to the 50s/60s era, but with a modern twist. The knit of the sweater makes it both cozy and breezy, and high-waisted shorts? Yes, please! I embrace this Springtime trend whole-heartedly! (I need to get some sun on my gams so as not to blind the passersby.)

I felt very classic and crisp in this outfit, and it definitely inspired me to rub on some of that red lipstick that’s been neglected beside my sink for months. I felt like a lady, and that is always fabulous!

The whole evening, I had this jazzy little ditty playing on repeat in my head:

So Date Night amounted to a little retreat and then swiftly back to lounge in the home we’ve made together. This may not be what some would expect their twenties to be. But I can’t be any more grateful that it is.
