39 Weeks (A Look Back)
January 13th, 2011

39 weeks and four days here to be exact. We were encouraged to induce due to my gestational diabetes and drove to the hospital two hours after deciding it was the best plan for us.
I had my heart set on feeling more put together for this delivery and since it was kind of scheduled out, I threw some curls in my hair and pulled on my boots. Ant thought I was being silly. But feeling good about yourself leads to feeling confident and that is something you most definitely need when preparing to push forth a human from within.

This turned into one of my very favorite maternity outfits and I hadn’t gotten a chance to document it so I thought it was perfect that we go out with a bang in our last maternity post.
It is so bittersweet. I miss that bump already. I really truly think a baby bump is the best accessory. Nothing can make you feel more feminine than that little baby floating inside you.

So I wore these boots to the hospital and since we scurried to pack our hospital bag, I forgot to pack more sensible shoes.
I didn’t know they were going to make me walk the halls during labor. “I forgot my shoes!” I cried.
That’s when Ant really thought I was silly for wearing my boots into labor. He told me I ought to walk around the hospital in my gown and wedge boots (I assume as punishment for being so insensible). I slid on my red tinsel socks and we walked around the tiny delivery hallway a million times for an hour instead.

This is my “I’m About to Have a Baby!!” face
Later he told me I am the only lady that would wear boots to go have a baby, and the only lady that would wear boots while being pushed out of the hospital in a wheelchair with a one-day old baby in my lap. I like that he referred to me as a lady. And twice.
So long, baby bump. I miss you already. But not too bad. I much prefer the outside version of Baby Poppy.

Shirt: Target (clearance!)
