34 Weeks (and Thanksgiving)
December 10th, 2010

Alrighty, so these are not actual maternity photos and you can’t see the growth of my belly and Poppy, but they were taken Thanksgiving morning and they’re the only images I have from the week. I wore an outfit earlier that week that is my other favorite of the moment, but didn’t get out of the house early enough to take decent pictures.
But, I figure I didn’t ever share these Thanksgiving photos anyway, so here we go. (I know it’s kind of cheating, but I can’t stand the thought of ruining my streak since 14 weeks.)
I told you I love this dress. And the best part is, it’s not maternity so I can still wear it after Poppy is born. And I will need super comfortable then too, oh boy will I ever…

Ella Faye is such a stubborn little photography subject. Sometimes she just oozes grins and fluttery eyelashes and shoots them at the lense, but other times she flees the scene and acts like a superstar, yelling “Nooo pishurs!” in your face. And with her index finger warningly extended right at you too. It’s then that she means business. And it’s then that I focus the camera on whatever cute shoes she’s wearing instead.
This is the week I lost my footing on the diabetes wagon. I ate a bit of pie. Too much pie, more than I should have. And we went to two Thanksgiving dinners, so there were two dessert sessions. That’s not what put me over my numbers, though. It was those darn delicious Hoffmann sweet potatoes. I couldn’t stop picking at them. And maybe that “real” cranberry sauce from the can. I couldn’t resist that either.
Since then I’ve been okay. I’m still doing well on my diet, and feeling extremely better than I remember feeling when I was pregnant with Ella. It’s an incredible difference. No puffiness or swelling yet, my ankles hardly ever turn to cankles, my attitude and energy are amazingly different. I am a fan of food and eating it the right way. Again, I say this diagnosis is a blessing in disguise.
But is it still in disguise if I’ve already discovered it??
