Thanksgiving Weekend

November 29th, 2010

How was everyone’s Thanksgiving Thursday and leftovers weekend?  We were busy busy busy and the four days off just flew by.  I’ve been hooked on my Hipstamatic so that’s my mode of sharing lately…

I could just gobble them up.

Harharhar.

Not his most glamorous shot…

Every year our family prepares the turkey for his date with the oven by making him do the “Turkey Dance.”  (You don’t really want to know…)  But it is tradition and so I love it.  This year my little turkey got some dancing time in with Yaya too.

Our evening was complete with Ella Faye’s famous rendition of Cinderella.

We had a lovely little Thanksgiving morning of lattes, snuggling, and  Macy’s parade watching.

I was missing the scent of turkey roasting in the oven.  Maybe next year I can pull off my first turkey.  I’m excited already.

I must say, Thanksgiving is just not quite as stellar without the freedom to gorge on whatever you please.  But I tried to focus on the much more important things and set my sights on next year when I will bake up a storm and do it up BIG.

I was a nut and (I think) dragged my friend into the craziness of standing in a midnight line at Old Navy.  We probably waited outside in 45 degree cold for about an hour, shopped for about the same, and spent another hour in line to check out.  I got home about 4am and walked around in a stupor the whole of the next day.  Thanks, Erin, for being a wacko with me!  (We should have packed some Midnight Nachos!)  I can’t say I bought or saved enough to make it entirely worth it, but it was a fun little outing nonetheless.

Friday morning we took Ella Faye to her first movie in a theater.  My parents came with us, which was even more exciting, and I’m glad they got to share in the experience.  We saw Tangled, which was really cute and Ella just soaked it up.  We may have snuck in donuts to up the fun.  She scarfed hers during the previews and sat patiently in Daddy’s lap the entire time.  Now I can’t wait to take her again!

Friday evening we shared a second Thanksgiving dinner at my folk’s.  Mmm, all those traditional Hoffmann dishes.

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and trying to get as much done for the show as possible.

We also finally got our new “family vehicle” and I think we’re all smitten.  (But you can drive without a key!!  This is nuts and I cannot wrap my head around it!  I think it’s scary how far things have come sometimes…)  So Saturday night we took it out for a spin and had a fun family date night.  We found an amazing Christmas light house.  I’ll share those photos soon!

Off to sew.  And sew.

And then sew some more.

Good night!
