Testing, 1, 7, 5…

October 22nd, 2010

Two girls out and about, that’s what Ella and I were today.  These days the weather is too beautiful to stay inside and watch the clouds disappear on the other side of the window.

We started with our favorite store…Target.  We hit the motherload of socks at the dollar bin.  Ella Faye is stocked up on princess and Fancy Nancy stockings for the winter.  We also snagged some hip pink lensed Fancy Nancy sunglasses for only – that’s right, a buck.  (That Fancy Nancy sure has gone commercial lately.  And Ella is loving it.)

We parked our cart outside and walked the plaza to the craft store.  We were in search of pumpkins to cover in my coveted Martha Stewart “glit-ter.”  Can you believe there are no more pumpkins.  (There is no question mark there because it is not meant to ask, but be a statement filled with shame.)  We did manage to find some cute fabric to make these pumpkins though.

By this time it was well into someone’s naptime but the Katy/Mommy that rarely comes out said “Dash naptime to pieces, we are out in gorgeous weather and we are having a girl’s day.”

So off we went to meet Daddy for lunch.  Can you say pumpkin bagels with pumpkin shmear?  I could if my mouth weren’t stuffed with the goodness.

We finished up just in time to head to the doctor’s office down the street.  We were due to hear this baby’s heartbeat.  Ella was pretty thrilled about hearing her baby sister.

It’s always a thrill to hear that speedy little thumping.

At the appointment we also talked about how I “failed horribly” my glucose screening.  You are supposed to have a reading of around 140 and mine was……175.  Dundun.  Man.  Bummer.  Oh no.  Shoots.

This happened when I was carrying Ella too.  I failed the screening but I passed the tolerance test and was cleared of gestational diabetes.  I am really really hoping it ends the same this time around.

Of course if we find out I do have gestational diabetes, I am going to be totally willing to change my diet and try really hard not to fuss about it.  Because what’s a few less bagels, cookies and soda pops going to matter when I’ve got my sweet healthy girl in my arms…

I’m going first thing in the morning for the 3-hour test.  Wish me luck if you’ve got a second to spare.  Thank you friends.

With that I am off to bed.  Have a beautiful weekend!!

Hope you pass your test because I really enjoy our nightly cookie and a show… Oh I wonder if that has something to do with this? :p
