At the Pumpkin Patch
October 17th, 2010

Saturday morning we packed into Daddy’s car (that always means we’re going somewhere distant and fun) and headed north.

We went to our first pumpkin patch! We were so busy there on the farm, taking in all the activities.
Right away we said hello to Rudy the donkey and Pony Boy. Then it was straight to the merry-go-round!

We pet the little goats and the cute, softy cow. Ella was sure to notice all the flies that swarmed around the animals.

“Ooh, bugs. S’inky.”
We went on a hayride around the farm and grabbed some roasted corn to munch on. Ella loved it.

We breaked for lunch and were harassed by dozens of bees. Between our hesitation in the petting area, the heat, and all the bugs, this is when Ant and I realized we don’t really belong on a farm…

After lunch we followed Ella’s directions to get through the corn maze.
Eventually we made it out.

“Tha’ way!”
Another stop at the merry-go-round, then to get some kettle corn and we were off to the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkin!

How can you resist the merry-go-round?
Oh but first a photo op.

“We are just like Cinderella in her Boppy Boo carriage!”

I’ve found the perfect Boppy Boo, now let’s see if I can just…

Proud of her pumpkin
By the time we found our car in the lot, we were exhausted. It was such a fun day. We missed out on the cool weather, hot apple cider, and caramel apples, but we certainly gathered up a lot of Autumn goodness.

We came home, changed, and headed straight out for a little Mexican dinner. Just the three of us, on our Fall date.
Then we settled into the couch with our blanket and kettle corn, turned out the lights, and watched “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”
Ella’s littlest pumpkin on her lap, and our little pumpkin snuggled between us.

Later Ant and I sipped hot apple cider in bed. I went to sleep feeling full. Of life, of love, of gratefulness.
It was the perfect Fall day.

Still preferring to leave the house sans pants, I see! Although those little shorts Ella donned at the pumpkin patch are the cutest I’ve ever seen!
You are all adorable, sis. Wish I could spend these days with you, but so glad I can share in them over cyberspace. Loves!

Our first family day trip was a success! Too bad we are just out of reach for a day trip to the beach. Lame Arizona.
