Mother’s Day 2010

May 11th, 2010

How was your Mother’s Day?

Mine was just lovely.  It began on Saturday morning, when I awoke to a big box at my feet on the bed.  It was a Revita-Mommy kit.  Can you believe that?  Designed and manifested by Ant himself.  Just the idea of this gift is plenty, but then I opened it up to find a plethora of items to help replenish this sometimes wary mothering soul.

“This year I wanted to give you a Revita-Mommy kit which contains the essentials necessary to make sure you revitalize yourself spiritually, emotionally, and physically everyday.”

1. My very own yoga mat!  Dark gray on one side, hot pink on the other.  Now Ant and I can do poses/work out side by side on our soft sturdy mats.  (Have I mentioned I want to re-floor our entire house in yoga mat material?  It would be amazing.)

2. Lululemon bag.  The bag is exciting enough, full of inspiring statements and quotes.  (And it smells like an above-the-ground pool…mmm.)  I think I will share some here on the days I have nothing to gab about.  But inside that bag, the yoga outfit I swooned over a couple weekends ago!  I would like to live in that outfit from here on out.  Yoga equipment paired with studio classes to learn to free myself, find myself, work and relax myself – physically and spiritually.

3. Toms shoes fit snuggly right here but they’re in the process of a size exchange.  I’d been planning to purchase these for months but put it off because I couldn’t decide which shade of red I wanted.  (Silly the things that get in my way.)  In the end I didn’t have to make that decision and I am happy happy happy with Ant’s pick for me.  A feel good purchase…do you know about Toms and their One for One philosophy?

4. Cute red Orla Kiely journal, perfect for recording thoughts, quotables, and crochet patterns. To let it all out.

5. My first pair of earrings as an adult.  Sweet white flowers.  This means I will need to go get them pierced (for the third time in my life).  Another thing I’ve put off doing.  Just for the fun of it.

6. Healthforce VitaMineral Green and Fruits of the Earth.  For super smoothies!  To optimize health, heal, and energize the body.  For overall wellness in body, spirit, and thoughts.

And from Ella Faye, a picture frame to be painted on a special mother-daughter date.  To have fun making a mess, then to remember how she is just now.

Each individual gift was thought out and meant something.  This is an all-encompassing gift.  Rejuvenating, encouraging, telling me to keep on keeping on.

All mothers know how hard this job can be.  There are days that end in tears of joy and pride.  There are days that end in tears of frustration and discouraged exhaustion.  There is the guilt that is felt when you are doing something, anything for yourself.

This gift is amazingly sweet.  But better than that is the acknowledgement that came with it.  I will enroll in that yoga class, and spend that time on myself.  I will sit down and write in that journal and give my thoughts the time they deserve.  I will wear those earrings and feel pretty.

I am blessed.  With a daughter so sweet and innocent that I am honored to spend every day with, side by side and hand in hand.  And with a husband so thoughtful and loving (and handsome) whom I get to sleep beside every night, hand in hand.

Thank you, my love, for making this an incredible weekend.
