“The Best Laid Plans…”

Valentine plans did not pan out as I had hoped. This upset me and I should have reacted differently.

I am old enough to know that plans are not the most important things.

Spending time with the ones most important to you – that is the most important thing. Valuing and appreciating that time.

Those are the most important things.

Here are some ordinary (but extraordinary) things that did happen:

Sharing dessert with my parents who only had to walk across the street.

(Tonight instead of one Valentine, I had four.)

Standing at the kitchen sink, washing sippy cups, while

listening to the man I still dream about

bathing our little girl in the tub.

Hearing cries of joy, a tiny voice laughing from down the hall.

This is what’s important. This is good.

This is beautiful.
