War and Cupcakes

March 23rd, 2009

This weekend was a mending one of sorts.  A needed mending weekend.  A weekend for the weakened soul.

Friday was rough.  With Ant feeling under the weather and my ongoing bad luck with electronic devices striking again (this time it was dropping my phone under the running kitchen faucet), we spent that night indoors.

Once the Wee was snug in bed, I baked chocolate cupcakes and we broke out Stratego.  I, having two games now under my belt, am horrible at this battle game.  But when Ant captured my flag and the first round ended, I advised for a second.  And lost again.

It was such a good time.  We played until 2 in the morning, just me and him.  A necessary focus on just us.  And Lieutenant Dan and Marshal Martin and Scotty the Scout…

On Saturday our physical selves received Spring cleaning as it were.  New lady things for me, new spectacles for him.  New comfy jams for Ella Faye.

It was a fulfilling few days.  A needed few days to rest and rejuvenate.  To reawaken the reasons that we are husband and wife.  And to continue to realize how blessed we are to be able to nourish our growing family.

Would you like a cupcake?

How about two?

Oh nevermind, one’s plenty.  I’ll take that delectable cheeky one up there.

Here’s to a cheerful week.

Springing Up

March 10th, 2009

Oh Spring, I am waiting.

Ten more days until she’s officially arrived, but lately she’s been sending quite nice weather our way to hold us over.  Such beautiful temperatures that every morning when I walk out to load Ella Faye into the car, it’s tempting to veer in the other direction & head toward the park.

I’ve been doing a lot of (web) window shopping these days, looking for springtime dresses & drooling over floppy hats.

My mind holds a very precise vision of our backyard.  It calls for citrus trees, flower beds, a porch swing, lush grass, an old red picnic table, & a blanket.  Floppy hats are also included.

A few frocks I’d like to take a twirl in:

Nextly, I love the dresses the seamstress behind Grosgrain has been whipping up.  Amazing.  And she’s giving them away!  More amazing.

I think perhaps I will welcome you, Ms. Spring, with delicious cupcakes.

Jonesing

Oh to be pregnant again & have my every craving fulfilled.  Mr. Husband, here is my order:

“Harry and the Hendersons” & a glazed chocolate donut.

I’ll settle for a warm cookie & a kiss…I’m on my way.
